Another great night

Another good veritas. 17 people here tonight including myself. It was very encouraging. God truly knows what my soul needed. It was just amazing to see him working and to see the new people from last week be more comfortable to speak and the new people tonight feel free to speak their minds. I really thought that tonight went well and i was encouraged and i learned and i appreciate all the comments and other things that people brought to the table it was a great eveing. If you came let me know what you think while you are discussing walmart. Comments good and bad are welcome. But be gentle im a crier. But thank you all for a great night and thank you Lord for putting us all in your presence.

Nic, your statements about walmart were well-put. I must admit that I shop at wally-world and target, but I have been feeling ill about it. I can see both sides of the coin of cheap labor. My friend, who is originally from China, has told me that factory jobs are helping the families that work in them, because their is no other means of making $. But I have also seen documentaries in latin american culture classes that show the companies that assemble our products. The workers lived in camps outside the factory. Picture sheds, makeshift houses, dirt and barbed wire. The workers were paid enough to survive, but not leave. One lady was fired after turning 30 and developing carpal tunnel syndrome from assembling products. (I think they were light sockets). I know this is not indicative of all companies and all workers' experiences, but, I left feeling ill again.
Want and need are the issues I've been focusing on lately. What do I really need? I've cleaned my closets and looked at what I have. If I truly need something, first I write it down and look at it for at least two weeks, to determine if emotion or want is behind my "need." Then I check out Goodwill and the Salvation Army. I think these places are like clothes recycling. If I can stop senseless new production for something I need, I will. It is also a ton cheaper. Anyhoo, by buying stuff that has already been used, I can sorta dodge the whole wally-world/target scene, and feel better about my purchases, and $ going to help people, and maybe stay in the community. I think a lot of the clothes at target/wal-mart, etc. are desinged to create more "need" when fashion changes. I think simplicity is always in style.
As far as I can tell, patagonia has awesome employee/manufacturing processes, though I own nothing from them. Bono's wife is starting a fair trade org., which I'll post when I find/or remember the name of it.
Ah! what a tangent! Anybody else have ideas about the 'stuff' in our lives?
